Yuan Xu
Yuan Xu is a fiber artist, sculptor based in New York and Chengdu, currently pursuing her BFA degree at Parsons School of Design. The artist attempts to explore inherent connections between landscape, the human body, and perception through fiber, metal, and other integrated materials. The intersections of experimental techniques result in a collision and transformation between hardness and softness. The complexity and multiplicity of states of being are portrayed in chaotic and ambiguous forms the artist created, where energy and breath happen inside the structure. Repetitive physical movements and intuitive decision-making during her process distinguish and accumulate each unit of material gradually over time to establish a dialogue with consciousness, and to stay present with the nature of each medium.
Xu’s works have been exhibited in New York, Shanghai and Beijing etc, and her participating projects were selected into The 9th Chengdu Design Week and A4 Art Museum. Her sculptures were collaborated with multiple fashion photography projects such as Comme des garçons F/W22 collection X Dover Street Market New York, Feroce Magazine cover page May Vol.4 2020.
